Approximately 100 people attended the "Eagle Has Taken Flight" event on Friday, November 20, 2009 at Denver International Airport to celebrate the completion of the environmental processes for the East Corridor and Gold Line projects. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has signed the Records of Decision (ROD) for each of the projects which is the final step in the Environmental Impact Statement process. Once the FTA has signed a ROD, RTD can proceed with the project having complied with environmental regulations and can apply for federal assistance. The two projects will now become part of the Eagle P3 Project, RTD's public-private partnership to deliver the East Corridor and Gold Line. Construction-related activity is expected to begin on the East Corridor later in 2010 with Gold Line construction to follow.
