Citizens Advisory Committee wraps up another productive year
On December 18, 2007, the FasTracks Citizens Advisory Committee presented its annual report to the RTD Board of Directors. History
On April 22, 2004, the RTD Board of Directors adopted Resolution No. 5, Series of 2004, calling for the creation of a FasTracks Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). The Board of Directors approved the structure for the CAC including its mission and function, the duties and roles of its members, the selection process for members, and organizational and meeting procedures for the Committee on December 13, 2005. The CAC advises the District on matters relating to the implementation of the voter-approved FasTracks.
The Mission of the CAC is:
- To provide region-oriented advice to the Board of Directors on issues related to the implementation of the FasTracks Plan.
- To receive staff reports on the progress of the project in relationship to established schedules, budget allocations, DBE goals, and quality management guidelines.
- To review and provide comment on the DRCOG Annual FasTracks Review Report
- To promote public awareness and understanding of the voter approved FasTracks Plan and its implementation.
Membership on the FasTracks Citizens Advisory Committee
Membership on the FasTracks Citizens Advisory Committee
The committee consists of eleven (11) members. All members are residents of the Regional Transportation District. Members of the committee are appointed to three (3) year staggered terms. Terms may be renewed once without public advertisement of a vacancy. RTD employees and Board members, their immediate family members, and other elected public officials are not eligible for membership. Criteria considered by the Board for appointment to the CAC include:
- Broad representation of stakeholder interests
- Diversity
- Geographical representation within the District
- Demonstrated interest in public transit and/or the FasTracks Plan
- Previous community service
- Professional experience
Meetings of the FasTracks Citizens Advisory Committee
The CAC meets quarterly in the evening in the Regional Transportation District's office at 1600 Blake Street, Denver, Colorado. All meetings are open to the public. Citizens are welcome at meetings and may express their opinions during the public comment period of each meeting.Notice and agenda of meetings are posted on the FasTracks Web site two to three weeks prior to the meeting. Minutes and presentation materials for each meeting also are posted on the FasTracks Web site.
